Fareham’s Remembrance Day Parade and Service
Fareham’s Annual Remembrance Day Parade will take place on Sunday 8 November at Holy Trinity Church.
The names of those who have died as a serving member in a British Armed Forces conflict from the Fareham area will be read out during a ‘Forever Remembered’ ceremony at the war memorial, Holy Trinity Church at 9.45am.
The Parade will step off from the Duke of Connaught’s Own Club in Western Road at 10.40am. The Parade will march up Kings Road onto West Street, under the direction of the Parade Marshall of HMS Collingwood. It will arrive at the war memorial where the two minutes’ silence will be observed at 11.00am. This will be followed by the Ceremony of Laying Wreaths and a special service at Holy Trinity Church.
The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Mrs Tina Ellis, said: “Remembrance Day is a deeply meaningful occasion for myself, my family and the whole Fareham community. In Hampshire, Fareham has the second highest number of veterans living in the Borough, second only to Gosport, as well as many serving personnel. The ‘Forever Remembered’ ceremony and Parade offer poignant reminders of those brave servicemen and women who have lost their lives in the defence of our freedom. I encourage residents to join us in paying tribute to the fallen as well as those still serving.”
The Remembrance Day Parade and Service has again been arranged in conjunction with the Royal British Legion and HMS Collingwood. The Commanding Officer of HMS Collingwood will be attending the parade with HMS Collingwood's Volunteer Band and Platoons.
